(Zingiber officinale) belongs to Zingiberaceae family. The part of the plant used is rhizome. The characteristic odor and flavor of ginger root is caused by a mixture of zingerone, shogaols and gingerols, volatile oils that compose about one to three percent of the weight of fresh ginger.
Beside use medicinally by Africans and West Indians ginger also use as an essential ingredient in many traditional Chinese medicines and use as spice by the Greeks and Romans. The Chinese take ginger for a wide variety of medical problems such as stomachache, diarrhoea, nausea, cholera, asthma, heart conditions, respiratory disorders, toothache and rheumatic complaints. In Ayurveda, ginger has been recommended for use as carminative, diaphoretic, antispasmodic, expectorant, peripheral circulatory stimulant, astringent, appetite stimulant, antiinflammatory agent, diuretic and digestive aid.
Here's interesting video about making ginger syrup

lovemetenderhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06475686934256828265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2839964788355742415.post-66852429363015003662009-08-01T09:04:00.000-07:002009-08-01T09:34:19.533-07:00Honey
Honey contains proteins, essential minerals and vitamins. It is a food of elevated energy and is also known for its medicinal and therapeutic assets. Honey is a food of easy digestion and enthusiastically assimilated by humans, constituting a healthy source of energy. Honey also used extensively in the cosmetic industry as well (creams, cleanness facemasks, tonics, etc.) because of its astringent and softening qualities.
Honey can helps retain moisture in the skin and provides a glowing look to your skin. Here's recipe using honey to retain moisture skin and rid the spot :
- cleanse your face with warm water
- pre-heat honey as necessary
- while it still warm and molten, smear honey to your face and massage with your finger slowly
- leave it for about 15 minutes
- Rinse first with warm water and then cold water
You can also use 1 egg, some tbs milk and 1 tbs honey, mix all then smear to your face and neck, keep it dry for about 30 minutes then rinse first with warm water and then cold water, this recipe to refresh your skin. That's all, simple and natural.
Then for more health benefits you can use honey with lemon in your green tea (you didn't use sugar in your green tea right?) and also you'll be able to cook sweets without the negative health effects of refined sugar, honey is an excellent option. Among other reasons, honey is metabolized more slowly by your body, meaning that you are less likely to get a sugar "high" after eating something made with honey.lovemetenderhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06475686934256828265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2839964788355742415.post-24213207585322857832009-07-18T21:42:00.000-07:002009-07-18T21:57:18.186-07:00Swine influenzaSwine influenza (also called swine flu, hog flu and pig flu) is an infection by any one of several specific types of swine influenza virus that is usually hosted by (is endemic in) pigs. People who work with pigs, especially people with intense exposures, are at increased risk of catching swine flu.
Symptoms of swine flu in people are similar to the symptoms of regular human flu and include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. There is no vaccine available right now to protect against swine flu.
Take these everyday steps to protect your health and lessen the spread of this new virus:
* Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
* Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.
* Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way.
* Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
* If you are sick with a flu-like illness, stay home for 7 days after your symptoms begin or until you have been symptom-free for 24 hours, whichever is longer. This is to keep from infecting others and spreading the virus further.
* Follow public health advice regarding school closures, avoiding crowds and other social distancing measures.lovemetenderhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06475686934256828265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2839964788355742415.post-53075657663413304812009-06-26T10:14:00.000-07:002009-06-26T10:20:54.378-07:00Rip King of Pop and Farrah Charlie AngelsMichael Jackson, i love your music.. and Farrah Fawcett, i remember your beauty smile in charlie angels.. may your soul rest in peace.lovemetenderhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06475686934256828265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2839964788355742415.post-15696329833967070712009-05-12T09:42:00.000-07:002009-05-12T09:46:37.146-07:00Exploit iframe malicious codeDid you get information by people who visit your website that your site having dangerous malware or get warn from google that visiting your site may harm everyone computers?
If that happen because your site contain Exploit.HTML.Iframe malicious code, here's the tip to clean it.
1. Possessing enthusiasm for all that you do is essential to the process of positive thinking. Just as plants require sunlight to develop and grow, utilizing the power of positive thinking requires enthusiasm to energize your potential and ensure an endless supply of fuel.
You will discover that the more enthusiasm you generate, the more energy you’ll have to put in.
There are some things it will be easy to generate enthusiasm over, and others where you’ll have to stretch yourself to find what will spark your enjoyment.
For example, no one has trouble generating enthusiasm for spending an unexpected bonus from work or taking a night out. However, you may find it hard to get excited about washing dishes or filling out your income tax forms. But part of the magic of positive thinking is developing the ability to find the good things in any situation and use them to get through the difficult parts.
Like developing a positive mindset, enthusiasm must be cultivated and sheltered from potentially damaging emotional storms. There are several methods you can use to put a dose of passion into everything you do, whether it’s finally taking that dream vacation or scrubbing out the basement. You can choose the method that best fits whatever situation you’re facing and ensure yourself the energy to tackle anything life happens to throw at you.

One of the most elemental solutions for finding enthusiasm is to focus on the benefit you will derive from completing a particular task. In some situations it’s easy to discover the benefit. For instance, you may hate wrapping presents, but you know the person you’re giving the present to will be overjoyed when presented with this lovely paper-wrapped gift, and so you derive happiness from envisioning the recipient opening the present.

If you’re having trouble summoning enthusiasm for a particular task, try to seek out someone who enjoys doing that sort of thing and ask them to partner up with you.
Like smiling, enthusiasm is contagious. If you spend some time observing another person’s enthusiasm, some of it is bound to rub off on you.lovemetenderhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06475686934256828265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2839964788355742415.post-74336199979876639502009-03-02T11:20:00.000-08:002009-05-12T09:47:21.622-07:00Privacy Policytipsbucket.blogspot.com Privacy Policy

You may provide personal information to tipsbucket.blogspot.com in one of four ways: (1) by sharing your e-mail address and sharing personal information when you contacting us, (2) by sharing personal information when you post comments on our posts or stories. Use any opportunity to relax and revitalize yourself.
- Plan to do something each day that brings you joy, something just for you.
- When you're concerned about something, talk it over with someone you trust, or write down your feelings.
- Say 'No' in a firm but kind way when asked to do something you really don't want to do.
- Exercise regularly, stretching releases tension.
- Remember, it takes less energy to get an unpleasant task done 'right now' than to worry about it all day.
- Take time to be with nature, people, music and children. Even in the city, noticing the seasonal changes of the sky or watching people's faces can bring inner harmony.
- Practise consciously doing one thing at a time, keeping your mind focused on the present. Do whatever you're doing more slowly, more intentionally and with more awareness and respect.
- Choose not to waste your life on guilt about the past or concern for the future.
- Learn a variety of relaxation techniques and practice meditation regularly.
- When angry, ask yourself 'what can i learn from this?'. Anyone or anything that can make you angry is showing you how you let yourself to be controlled by expectations of how someone or something should be. When we accept others, ourselves and situations for what they are, we become more effective in influencing them to change in the way that we'd like them to.
- Be more aware of the demands you place on yourself, your environment and on others to be different from how they are. Demands cause tremendous stress.
- If your schedule is busy, prioritise.. do the most important ones first.
- Organize your life to include time for fun, spontaneity and open spaces. Set a realistic schedule allowing some transition time between activities. Eliminate unnecessary commitments.
- Smile and laugh more and be kinder to yourself and others.
- Learn to delegate responsibility.
- Monitor your intake of sugar, salt, caffeine and alcohol.
- Welcome change as an opportunity and a challenge to learn and grow.lovemetenderhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06475686934256828265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2839964788355742415.post-25336457477039387982009-02-19T06:32:00.000-08:002009-02-19T07:02:27.988-08:00Positive thinking benefit
Here's a few of the ways positive thinking can benefit our career:
- Recognition: When you practice positive thinking, you become more vibrant and alive than you have ever been. You will find that your efforts are recognized and rewarded more often, particularly when you are not expecting recognition. Simply performing your work with a positive attitude to the best of your abilities will make you stand out.

- Promotions and Raises: Those with can-do attitudes advance far faster in the workplace. Using the power of positive thinking increases your confidence and demonstrates your capabilities to handle greater responsibility; and those above you at work will notice and treat you accordingly. You will not only be offered more opportunity; you will find yourself seeking advancement and fulfillment rather than simply waiting for the day to end so you can return to your “real” life. Your career will become a part of what defines you instead of a means of survival that you just “get through.”

- Better Working Environment: You may recall that positive thinking is contagious. Working with a pleasant attitude will improve the attitudes of those around you, or at least your perceptions of them. You will begin to notice that your workday no longer drags you down as you derive pleasure from your accomplishments and enjoy the company of your co-workers.

- Less Supervision: Most of us know what it’s like to have a supervisor breathing down our necks. When we move to a positive mindset, we showcase our abilities to complete work satisfactorily without excessive direction (or interference). Left to our own devices, we will accomplish far more and this will become evident to even the most anal of supervisors.

- Dream Job: With positive thinking, you can live your dreams. Whether you choose to seek a new career or transform the job you have into the job you love, you will soon find your career providing everything you imagine it to be.

- Entrepreneurship: Many people long to go into business for themselves, but most fear the consequences of losing the safety and security of working for someone else. Positive thinking frees you from your fear of change, and equips you with the tools you need to not only take steps toward working for yourself, but carry your entrepreneurial vision to success. Whatever your reasons for wanting your own business, you can use positive thinking to bypass the pitfalls that plague most beginning business ventures and realize your dreams of self-employment.

- New opportunities: Positive thinking allows you to visualize possibilities you would have otherwise missed. As you get to know yourself, your beliefs and your desires; you will better understand what you’re looking for in a career. You will also have the ability to discover the means to achieve what you want, whether it is improving your current job, getting a promotion or new position, or heading off on your own. There is no limit to the opportunities awaiting you through the power of positive thinking.lovemetenderhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06475686934256828265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2839964788355742415.post-79163659408319245162009-02-17T17:27:00.000-08:002009-02-17T17:31:25.365-08:00Positive think
You Know You’re a Positive Thinker When:

- Your grueling drive to work goes by so quickly, you wonder why it ever bothered you in the first place.

- The clerk at the grocery store gives you the wrong change, you point it out with a smile and she happily corrects the mistake.

- You waited in line at the bank for twenty-five minutes on your lunch hour...and your life didn’t end.

- The new part for your car finally arrived at the garage after a week on backorder, but it was the wrong one. You were so nice about accepting the delay when the garage called that they offered you a substantial discount on your repair bill.

- Every time you catch a glimpse of yourself in a mirror, you’re smiling and you don’t think you look like a moron.

- You put the oven on too high and burned dinner...then wound up having something even better than you’d planned.

- Suddenly you have a lot more free time on your hands, and plenty of things to do with it- plus enough energy to do them.

- The last time you thought the word can’t was in the phrase I can’t believe all these great things are happening to me.

Positive thinking has the power to change your life, as long as you believe it does. Your ability includes your willingness to do what it takes.

- What you seek is seeking you and exists within you. Every resource you need is available to you.

- There is often lag time between dreaming your dream and making it happen. This is a crucial time to stay more focused and committed to your dream than to your reality.

On the other side of your fears are great teachings. Learn to hang in there and take a closer look. Fear is a great teacher and often provides a wake up call. Use what you learn as soon as possible.

- There are signs everywhere showing you which way to go. Learn to read them and use your dream of guidance.

- When you really believe that something probably will happen, it probably will. Committed is the key.

- As you complete your dream, It's time for another one. Don't ever be afraid to reach the finish line. There's always another dream available, if that's what you want.

- Be willing to trust your intuition and act on your insights.lovemetenderhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06475686934256828265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2839964788355742415.post-57484129988261086482009-02-08T06:30:00.000-08:002009-02-08T06:35:47.271-08:00Self Improvement Program
1. Know your purpose

Are you wandering through life with little direction - hoping that you'll find happiness, health and prosperity? Identify your life purpose or mission statement and you will have your own unique compass that will lead you to your truth north every time.

2. Know your values
What do you value most? Make a list of your top 5 values. Some examples are security, freedom, family, spiritual development, learning. As you set your goals for 2009 - check your goals against your values. If the goal doesn't align with any of your top five values - you may want to reconsider it or revise it.

The number shouldn't discourage you, instead it should motivate you to do more than you can ever dreamed of.

3. Know your needs
Unmet needs can keep you from living authentically. Take care of yourself.

Do you have a need to be acknowledged, to be right, to be in control, to be loved? There are so many people who lived their lives without realizing their dreams and most of them end up being stressed or even depressed for that matter. List your top four needs and get them met before it's too late!

4. Know your passions

You know who you are and what you truly enjoy in life. Obstacles like doubt and lack of enthusiasm will only hinder you, but will not derail your chance to become the person you ought to be. Express yourself and honor the people who has inspired you to become the very person you wanted to be.

5. Live from the inside out

Increase your awareness of your inner wisdom by regularly reflecting in silence. Commune with nature. Breathe deeply to quiet your distracted mind. For most of us city slickers it's hard to even find the peace and quiet we want even in our own home. In my case I often just sit in a dimly lit room and play some classical music. There's sound, yes, but music does soothe the savage beast.

6. Honor your strengths

What are your positive traits? What special talents do you have? List three - if you get stuck, ask those closest to you to help identify these. Are you imaginative, witty, good with your hands? Find ways to express your authentic self through your strengths. You can increase your self-confidence when you can share what you know to others.

7. Serve others
When you live authentically, you may find that you develop an interconnected sense of being. When you are true to who you are, living your purpose and giving of your talents to the world around you, you give back in service what you came to share with others -your spirit - your
essence. The rewards for sharing your gift with those close to you is indeed rewarding, much more if it were to be the eyes of a stranger who can appreciate what you have done to them.
Self-improvement is indeed one type of work that is worth it. It shouldn't always be within the confines of an office building, or maybe in the four corners of your own room. The difference lies within ourselves and how much we want to change for the better.lovemetenderhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06475686934256828265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2839964788355742415.post-46065519265956596742009-02-02T09:41:00.000-08:002009-02-02T09:45:01.255-08:00Housekeeping Tips

Here's some housekeeping tips

- To remove candle wax from the bottom of a votive candleholder, leave it in the freezer for about an hour. The wax will come right off.

- If your drinking glasses are cloudy, soak them for an hour or so in slightly warm white vinegar then scrub them with a nylon sponge.

- Catsup can polish copper pots. Just rub a liberal amount of catsup on the copper and leave for five minutes. Rinse with hot water and dry.

- To remove fingerprint marks, sprinkle cornstarch on furniture and let it stand for a few minutes before wiping off.

- Make your own kitchen freshener. In a saucepan, bring water to a boil and add cinnamon sticks and orange peel. Simmer under low fire, and let the scent fill your kitchen.

- Remove nasty urine odors on mattresses with borax. Dampen the affected areas with cold water, and sprinkle borax over them; rub the borax vigorously over the affected areas and let dry, brushing off any remaining powder.

- Remove wallpaper easily with the help of vinegar and warm water. Mix equal parts of vinegar and warm water and roll over the paper until thoroughly soaked. The paper peels off after two applications of the solution.

- You can reduce the time you need to clean your bathroom walls by steaming the bathroom first to soften the molds and other buildups sticking to the walls.

- To keep your garbage bins smelling fresh, place a cut-up lemon in it. The lemon scent will keep your bins smelling fresh.

- Remove white knots from sweaters and clothing by using a regular razor. Shave as if you were shaving your face or legs, it won’t harm the fabric.

- A paste of butter and cigarette ashes do a good job of removing white water stains. Spread onto spot and rub with a damp cloth.

- To prevent ruining delicate clothes when washing inside a washing machine, place garments inside a pillowcase and wash on a gentle cycle.

- To remove crayon marks from walls, try dabbing small amounts of toothpaste on the marks and then rubbing them off with a clean cloth.

- Regularly set aside a time each year to clean out storage areas. Discard of anything you don’t need anymore.

- Placing contrasting elements together establishes visual dialogue in a room. For instance, a polished wood dining table could have upholstered chairs accompanying it.

- Mirrors are best cleaned with newspaper. After wiping with a rag soaked in soapy water, rinse and wipe dry with crumpled newspaper. The mirror will be squeaky clean.

- Schedule once-a-week chores to save on time and electricity. Iron at the same time instead of one piece at a time, de-frost once a week, go to the supermarket once a week to save on fuel.

- To keep the kitchen free of spills and sticky drippings, transfer condiments, salad dressings, jelly and other messy items into plastic squeeze bottles.

- Never store opened canned foods in the fridge. Transfer the contents into plastic or ceramic containers. The lead in the can cause poisoning.

- Practice the first-in-first-out principle in the kitchen, especially with food items. Arrange the stocks in the pantry such that the older purchases are within easy reach.

- Prepare a monthly budget to find out where cost-cutting must/can be done. Record all purchases for three months (one quarter) to get the average spent on food, toiletries, cleaning items, medicines, power and other regular/necessary expenses.lovemetenderhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06475686934256828265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2839964788355742415.post-20298942402591092822009-01-15T03:16:00.000-08:002009-01-15T03:24:14.536-08:00Stress ReliefHere are some steps you can take toward relieving stress:
1. Don’t just sit there.
Move! According to many psychologists, motion creates emotion. You might notice that when you are idle, it’s easier to become depressed. Your heart rate slows down, less oxygen travels to your brain, and you are slumped somewhere
in a chair blocking air from reaching your lungs. I challenge you right now, regardless of how you are feeling, to get up and walk around at a fast tempo.
Maybe you might want to go to an empty room and jump up and down a little bit. It may sound silly but the results speak for themselves. Try it now for a few minutes. It works like magic.
Exercise can be a great stress buster. People with anxiety disorders might worry that aerobic exercise could bring on a panic attack. After all, when you exercise, your heart rate goes up, you begin to sweat, and your breathing becomes heavier.
Don’t panic – it’s not an attack! Tell yourself this over and over while you’re exercising. Realize that there’s a big difference between the physical side of exercise and what happens when you exercise.

2. Smell the roses.
How do you smell the roses? How about investing some money to go on that one trip you’ve been dreaming about? Visit a country with lots of exotic places to jolt your imagination and spur your creativity. You need to detach from your daily activities and venture a little bit.

3. Help others cope with their problems.
It is very therapeutic when you engross yourself in helping others. You will be surprised how many people’s problems are worse than those you may be facing. You can offer others assistance in countless ways. Don’t
curl up in your bed and let depression and stress take hold of you.
Get out and help somebody. But be careful. Don’t get caught up in other people’s problems in an attempt to forget about your own.
I am constantly being called by friends and family when they want to vent or get advice. I joke and tell them “Don’t call the ‘crazy’ person for advice!” But there are times that I find myself worrying about the ones who call me and I get caught up in what they’re going through. This just gives me more stress than I already have and I find that I have to step away and re-assess myself and my priorities.
I’m now to the point where I can tell them that I just can’t deal with it right now and to call back later.
Sometimes, they get upset, but more often than not, they understand. But I’ve learned not to get too upset about their reactions. If it won’t matter in a week, it should matter right now.

4. Laugh a little.
By now you’ve heard that laughter is a good internal medicine. It relieves tension and loosens the muscles. It causes blood to flow to the heart and brain. More importantly, laughter releases a chemical that rids the body of pains.
Every day, researchers discover new benefits of laughter. Let me ask you this question: “Can you use a good dose of belly-shaking laughter every now and then?” Of course you can. What you are waiting for? Go a comedy club or rent some funny movies.

5. Wear your knees out.
If there were one sustainable remedy I could offer you when the going gets tough, it would be prayer. Many people, depending on their faith, might call it meditation. It doesn’t matter to me what you call it, as long as you have a place to run to.

6. Make stress your friend
Acknowledge that stress is good and make stress your friend! Based on the body’s natural “fight or flight” response that burst of energy will enhance your performance at the right moment. I’ve yet to see a top sportsman totally relaxed before a big competition. Use stress wisely to push yourself that little bit harder when it counts most.

7. Stress is contagious
What we mean by this is that negative people can be a huge stressor. Negativity breeds stress and some people know how to do nothing but complain. Now you can look at this in one of two ways. First, they see you as a positive, upbeat person and hope that you can bring them back “up”. If that’s not it, then they’re just a negative person and can’t feel better about themselves unless those around them are negative as well.
Don’t get caught up in their downing behavior.
Recognize that these kinds of people have their own stress and then limit your contact with them. You can try to play stress doctor and teach them how to better manage their stress, but be aware that this may contribute more to your own stress, so tread lightly.

8. Copy good stress managers
When people around are losing their head, which keeps calm? What are they doing differently? What is their attitude? What language do they use? Are they trained and experienced?
Figure it out from afar or sit them down for a chat.
Learn from the best stress managers and copy what they do.

9. Use heavy breathing.
You can trick your body into relaxing by using heavy breathing. Breathe in slowly for a count of 7 then breathe out for a count of 11. Repeat the 7-11 breathing until your heart rate slows down, your sweaty palms dry off and things start to feel more normal.

10. Stop stress thought trains
It is possible to tangle yourself up in a stress knot all by yourself. “If this happens, then that might happen and then we’re all up the creek!” Most of these things never happen, so why waste all that energy worrying needlessly?
Give stress thought-trains the red light and stop them in their tracks. Okay so it might go wrong – how likely is that and what can you do to prevent it?

11. Know your stress hot spots and trigger points
Presentations, interviews, meetings, giving difficult feedback, tight deadlines… My heart rate is cranking up just writing these down!
Make your own list of stress trigger points or hot spots. Be specific. Is it only presentations to a certain audience that get you worked up? Does one project because more stress than another? Did you drink too much coffee?
Knowing what causes your stress is powerful information, as you can take action to make it less stressful. Do you need to learn some new skills? Do you need extra resources? Do you need to switch to decaffeinated coffee?

12. Eat, drink, sleep and be merry!
Lack of sleep, poor diet and no exercise wreaks havoc on our body and mind. Kind of obvious, but worth mentioning as it’s often ignored as a stress management technique. Listen to your mother and don’t burn the candle at both ends!
Avoid using artificial means to dealing with your stress. That means don’t automatically pour a glass of wine when you think you’re getting stressed out and don’t light up a cigarette. In actuality, alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, and drugs can make the problem worse. A better idea is to practice the relaxation techniques we’ve given you. Then, once you’re relaxed, you can have that glass of wine if you want.

13. Go outside and enjoy Mother Nature.
A little sunshine and activity can have amazing ramifications on your stress level and will enhance your entire outlook towards life. Your improved attitude will have a positive effect on everyone in your family and/ or circle
of friends; things which seem overwhelming will soon become trivial matters, causing you to wonder what the predicament was. Not only will you be less stressed, you will be healthier, happier, and more energetic; ready to face whatever obstacles come your way.

14. Give yourself permission to be a 'kid' again.
What did you enjoy when you were a child? Draw; paint; be creative. Play with Play- dough, dance, or read. Play music, allow yourself freedom to express yourself without worry that you're not keeping with the image of who you are 'supposed' to be. Just relax and enjoy yourself. We all have a little child in us and it's a good idea to allow expression of the child within from time to time.
If I might say so, this suggestion is excellent and very therapeutic.

15. Don't set unrealistic for goals for yourself.
Many of us set ourselves up for defeat simply by setting unrealistic goals for ourselves. For example, if you are dieting, realize you cannot lose 40 pounds in one or two months. Or maybe you are trying to reach a goal of obtaining a particular job position; whatever your goal is allow sufficient time to reach your goals and realize occasional setbacks may occur.
If you reach your goal without any delays, you will be even happier with yourself for arriving quicker than you planned, but don't expect it. In fact don't expect anything; expectations and reality are often two entirely different things.

16. Learn it is OK to say 'no' occasionally.
Often, many of us feel we have to say 'yes' to everyone, every time we are asked for help and feel that we must respond in a positive fashion. But, remember, you cannot be all things to all people. You must first meet your own needs before you can truly give others what they need while at the same time keeping yourself happy.

17. You do not have to do everything your family, friends, and others ask.
Of course you can help others, but first make sure you have done what is necessary to take care of yourself.

18. Make time for yourself, your number one priority; once your own needs are met you will find you have more time for others. And you may find more pleasure in helping others when you don't feel that you must always put others needs before your own.

19. Scream at the top of your lungs – as loud as you can. While this may not be feasible in your home, it works great when you’re in your car with the windows rolled up. Let out a guttural yelp from deep down inside. It’s liberating!

20. Sing.
As we said in the previous chapter, music can be extremely beneficial when getting rid of stress.
Think how much better you can feel when you belt out “Copacabana” at the top of your lungs! Who cares if you can’t carry a tune? You’re doing this for you!

21. Take up a new hobby like knitting or crocheting.
Don't worry about being good at it. It's the process that's beneficial. Sitting still while performing repetitive movements is calming and stabilizing for many people.
It can be time to collect your thoughts.

22. Start a garden.
Even apartment-dwellers can do this. Inside in pots, pots on the patio, pots, a small spot in your yard. There is a little work to setting it up.
Tending plants, fruits, vegetables, flowers and watching them grow, bloom, or yield food is rewarding.
Avid gardeners say working a garden is the best way to control stress and worry. An added benefit is the creation of a more beautiful, restful environment.

23. Play with a dog or cat.
Experts say pet owners have longer lives and fewer stress symptoms that nonpet owners. Playing with your pet provide good vibrations – for you and for the pet! It’s a form of social interaction with no pressure to meet anyone’s expectations!

24. Look at the stars and the moon.
It can be a very humbling experience to lay on a blanket with your hands behind your head and gaze up into the night sky.
It’s more than humbling; it’s downright beautiful and relaxing!
When you look at the vastness of the sky, you realize that our problems are small compared to that.

25. Treat yourself to some comfort food. But be careful or over-eating could become your big stressor.
Enjoy in moderation and make your self feel better.

26. Swing.
Remember the feeling of sitting inside that little piece of leather on the playground as you sway back and forth and feel the wind whipping through your hair? Do that! If you don’t have a swing in your yard, go to a playground and remember to pump your legs back and forth to see how high you can go. It’s liberating!

27. Take a candle lit bubble bath.
Even you guys out there can benefit from a warm bath bathed in the soft glow of candlelight. Lay your head back, feel the bubbles and the warm water, and let your stress go right down the drain when you pull the plug!
lovemetenderhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06475686934256828265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2839964788355742415.post-89256033220091909622009-01-13T05:50:00.000-08:002009-01-13T05:54:00.299-08:00Quick start guide to raise your self-esteem
Here are several tips on how to start.

1. Try to stop thinking negative thoughts about yourself. If you're used to focusing on your shortcomings, start thinking about positive aspects of yourself that outweigh them. When you catch yourself being too critical, counter it by saying something positive about yourself. Each day, write down three things about yourself that make you happy.

2. Aim for accomplishments rather than perfection. Some people become paralyzed by perfection. Instead of holding yourself back with thoughts like, "I won't audition for the play until I lose 10 pounds," think about what you're good at and what you enjoy, and go for it.

3. View mistakes as learning opportunities. Accept that you will make mistakes because everyone does. Mistakes are part of learning. Remind yourself that a person's talents are constantly developing, and everyone excels at different things — it's what makes people interesting.

4. Try new things. Try experimenting with different activities that will help you get in touch with your talents. Then take pride in new skills you develop.

5. Recognize what you can change and what you can't. If you realize that you're unhappy with something about yourself that you can change, and then start today. If it's something you can't change (like your height), then start to work toward loving yourself the way you are.

6. Set goals. Think about what you'd like to accomplish, and then make a plan for how to do it. Stick with your plan and keep track of your progress.

7. Exercise! You'll relieve stress, and be healthier and happier.

8. Have fun. Ever found yourself thinking stuff like "I'd have more friends if I were thinner"? Enjoy spending time with the people you care about and doing the things you love. Relax and have a good time — and avoid putting your life on hold.

9. Use the 10 minute technique. People with poor self-esteem often fail to give themselves enough time and space. So find 10 minutes every day to be alone and to just sit and do nothing. Some people find it helpful to close their eyes and imagine a country scene or the sight and sound of waves gently lapping against the seashore. During these 10 minutes, allow yourself to feel peaceful and happy. Enjoy this time. It is yours - and yours alone. And you deserve it. Finding 10 minutes for you is a caring thing to do and you will feel better for doing it.

10. Act confidently. People will sense your self-confidence and respond positively to you, strengthening your image and self-image all at once.

11. Practice breathing easily, freely and deeply and then think of it. It implicitly says you should believe in yourself and do it without any help from others, this in turn enhances your self-esteem.

12. Think back to when you did something new for the first time. Learning something new is often accompanied by feelings of nervousness, lack of self belief and high stress levels, all of which are necessary parts of the learning process. The next time you feel under-confident, remembering this will remind you that it's perfectly normal - you're just learning!

13. Do something you’re good at. How about swimming, running, dancing, cooking, gardening, climbing, painting, writing… If possible, it should be something that holds your attention and requires enough focus to get you into that state of 'flow' where you forget about everything else. You will feel more competent, accomplished and capable afterwards, great antidotes to low self esteem! And while you're at it, seriously consider doing something like this at least once a week. People who experience 'flow' regularly seem to be happier and healthier.

14. Stop thinking about yourself. This may sound strange, but low self esteem is often accompanied by too much focus on the self. Doing something that absorbs you and holds your attention can quickly make you feel better.

15. Remember everything you have achieved. This is where your journal can come in handy. This can be difficult at first, but after a while, you'll develop a handy mental and written list of self-esteem boosting memories that you can refer to often. And if you're thinking "But I've never achieved anything", I'm not talking about climbing Everest here. They can be things like passing your driving test (despite being nervous), passing exams (despite doubting that you would), playing team sport, getting fit (even if you let it slip later), saving money for something, trying to help someone (even if it didn't work) and so on.

16. Choose something that brings about a good thought and focus on it when you are feeling blue. Country singer Clint Black wrote a song that included the lyric “Ain’t it funny how a melody can bring back a memory.” It doesn’t have to be a song, though, it could be the smell of a certain perfume that reminds you of a special person or even a piece of clothing that you were wearing during an especially wonderful time. Use this stimulus and focus on it. Let those good feelings wash over you and chase away those “I’m no good” blues.

17. Clear out the junk: This means anything hurtful and unconstructive that you’ve been told by someone you care or cared about (or even some you didn’t) is to be taken with a grain of salt. It is one thing to be given constructive criticism in life, but quite another when people are downright mean about it. Remember it’s the offending party’s issue. NOT yours.

18. List first why you believe the negativity you tell yourself (i.e., I’m too old. I’m too fat. Nobody loves me. I’m never good enough. etc.); laugh at that piece of paper you just wrote on; THEN tear it up and move on to the next strategy.

19. Count your blessings, which can include things people actually take for granted, such as food and shelter, access to a computer, etc.

20. Make a list of what you love to do, starting from childhood until now and try to find time to do it at least once a week, even if it’s just for a few minutes.

21. List at least three things that you would love to have the courage to do. Then formulate a plan to actually do them. You may not be able to at first, but know that if there are other people out there who can and do, you can too.

22. Realize once and for all that your self-worth and self-esteem is defined by you and only you. You cannot rely on someone else for your happiness. Another person’s view of you is immaterial. Where happiness and self-esteem comes from is inside of you. Once you embrace that fully, the transformation will begin!

23. Choose to be happy. Happiness is a state of mind. The Dalai Lama says that the very purpose of life is to seek happiness. He believes that if you train the mind to be happy, you will be. Likewise, you can train yourself for higher self-esteem.

24. Be passionate about something. This can be anything. Be passionate about yourself. Be passionate about your hobbies. Be passionate about raising your self-esteem. Passion takes hold of you and feels like “fire in the belly.” It is a source of power that enables you to get fired about life and make a difference. The more passion and zest you feel the more alive and brightly lit you are.

25. Reward your successes. Set yourself up for success by breaking big goals into daily action steps and take time to acknowledge and celebrate the small successes. This will feed your need for recognition and provides the extra push to keep you moving forward. Rewards could be as simple as that delectable piece of turtle cheesecake you saw in the bakery or as huge as a dream vacation. Either way, you deserve to celebrate your successes. When you do, you’ll be rewarded in many more ways than just materially!

lovemetenderhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06475686934256828265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2839964788355742415.post-40036060154588371392009-01-06T10:26:00.000-08:002009-01-06T10:54:07.121-08:00"Know Your Enemy"
Isn't about Sun Tzu's The Art of War, it’s about our lifestyle.

If we did not put attention to our lifestyle it can be our most terrifying enemy someday, it can torture our body anytime and anywhere before killing us with painfully.
Here's some of our “lifestyle” enemy:
- Smoking: The risks of lung cancer due to tobacco smoke are too great to ignore. A person smoking one pack a day has increased their odds for getting lung cancer by 30x or more when compared to a nonsmoker. And, the more cigarettes you smoke every day, the greater those odds become. Plus, the number of years a person smokes continually increases their chances of developing lung cancer, but not only does it affect the lungs, it can cause kidney, pancreatic, cervical, and stomach cancers and acute myeloid leukemia. Quitting smoking immediately decreases your risk factor for cancer.
- Food: Do you like hotdogs, doughnuts, french fries, processed meats and bacon, and chips / crackers / cookies? Well, those are some short list of foods that should be avoided. As most people give themselves cancer through the foods, drinks and products they choose to consume, it is important to know that the key to avoiding cancer-causing foods is knowing which ingredients are carcinogens. A diet composed of fruits, vegetables, and fibers are important in promoting overall health and preventing cancer. Vegetables are effective cancer fighters. Tomatoes contain lycopene, a substance that is essential in fighting certain kinds of cancer, while broccoli is contains sulforaphane, another anti-cancer compound. Cauliflower, celery, lentils, peas and other vegetables also possess anti-cancer properties.
- Physical Activity: Reduction of excess body fat plays a vital role in maintaining good health and avoiding disease. Medical evidence shows that obesity poses a significant threat to health as well as to longevity. Excess body fat is connected to heart disease, cancer, diabetes, gall bladder disease, gastro-intestinal disease, sexual dysfunction, osteoarthritis, stroke and overweight people often also have high cholesterol levels, making them more likely to develop arteriosclerosis. When blood vessels are so narrow that vital organs like the heart, kidneys or brain don’t get enough blood, this becomes life-threatening. Exercise like yoga, aerobics, walking and running are great activities to prevent diseases and reduces the chances of becoming obese.
- Sex Activity: Sexually Transmitted Diseases are diseases caused by viruses, bacteria, and parasites. It can easily be transmitted through body contact during sex. There are at least 25 different sexually transmitted diseases that can be spread during sexual contact, especially during vaginal, anal, and oral sex. Sometimes, it takes a long time to detect since some of the symptoms may appear only when the disease is in the advanced stages. The following are some of the most common sexually transmitted diseases that affect individuals who engage in unprotected sex: Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Bacterial Vaginosis, Crabs or Pubic Lice, Epididymitis, Genital Herpes, Genital Warts, Gut Infections, Hepatitis, Molluscum, Non-Specific Urethritis, Scabies, Syphilis, Thrush, Trichomonas Vaginosis, and Balanitis. Practicing unsafe sex can also increase your risk of developing a virus called HPV. HPV is a group of over 100 viruses, medically known as human papillioma virus. HPV increases your risk factor for cervical, anal, vulva and vaginal cancer. Indeed, sex is a natural human activity that should be openly discussed. One must learn to practice a positive and respectful approach to sexuality and sexual relationships. By increasing awareness about the sexual rights of every individual, people will have a healthier outlook towards sex. Sexual activities should be enjoyed to the fullest. However, maintaining mutual respect and making sure both partners are protected must always be a top priority.
- Environment: Overexposure to ultraviolet sunlight (UV rays) or other ultraviolet radiation, including tanning beds is believed to be the dominant external factor in a person’s development of skin cancer. A skin cancer is a cancer that results in the overproduction of harmful cells on the skin. This cancer is usually detected by looking for a pigment called melanoma. Signs of skin cancer include a sudden change in the appearance of the skin or the presence of wounds or sores that don't heal. Exposure to asbestos, a group of minerals found in housing and industrial building materials can cause a variety of medical problems, such as mesothelioma. Mesothelioma or the cancer of the mesothelium is a disease in which cells of the mesothelium become abnormal and divide without control or order. They can invade and damage nearby tissues and organs. Cancerous cells can also spread called metastasizing from their original place to other parts of the body. Most cases of Mesothelioma begin in the pleura or peritoneum, i.e. the lining surrounding the chest and the lungs. In malignant Mesothelioma, which is a rare form of cancer, the cancerous or malignant cells are found in the sac lining the chest (the pleura), the lining of the abdominal cavity (the peritoneum) or the lining around the heart (the pericardium). Studies have shown that people who are exposed to high amount of benzene are at risk for cancer. Benzene is a chemical found in gasoline, smoking, and pollution.
By reading this article, you can choose what kind of lifestyle better for you and the people you loved.lovemetenderhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06475686934256828265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2839964788355742415.post-86829775709094864882009-01-03T22:03:00.000-08:002009-01-03T22:10:15.026-08:00Gardening Tips

Some gardening tips :

- Don’t put houseplants in direct sunlight. Although houseplants should have some light, their leaves will wilt if left directly exposed to the sun.

- Get a pad to kneel on when you’re working in the garden. The pad will protect your knees and limit how dirty you get.

- If you’re not sure what you want the layout of your garden to be, plant in pots so you can move plants around until you’re happy.

- Water features in the garden need to be kept fresh. Install plants like water violet to keep the water oxygenated.

- Soak eggshells in water overnight and then use the solution as a fertilizer. The solution will be full of nutrients from the eggshells.

- Never plant anything under conifers because those particular trees cause the soil to become acidic. Plants around conifers would not grow.

- Make sure any extras in your garden, washing lines for example, are properly installed so they are unlikely to disturb the equilibrium in your garden.

- Use climbers to cover ugly walls and shed that have become an eyesore in your otherwise gorgeous garden.

- Try to keep a garden diary. That way you’ll remember what you planted before, notice any patterns and be able to plan for the future.

- Don’t plant too many plants in one area. Competition for resources will cause growth of poorquality plants.

- Glossy leaves reflect light so it is better to place plants with glossy leaves in shadowy corners to make your garden look bigger. They’ll thrive there too.

- Just because you live in the city doesn't mean you can't have a garden. These flowering plants are known to survive and thrive in most cities with extremely hot temperatures and high pollution: Madagascar periwinkle, lantana, impatiens, cosmos, cleome (spider flower) and canna (Indian flag).

- Make your garden more fragrant by planting more lightly colored or white flowers. You can also give your garden a rich fragrant smell by adding thick-textured flowers such as gardenia, citrus and magnolia, which have very distinctive and intense scents.

- Always keep air vents clear, so don’t plant climbers, bushes or trees anywhere that could possibly obstruct them. If they’re already there, cut them back as soon as they begin to obstruct the vents.

- Recycle your used teabags as a source of nutrients for your plants. The contents can provide a welcome change for the soil and help plant growth.

- Open the greenhouse via the door or windows for at least two hours a day. It recycles the air and gets rid of any excess heat.

- Use a pitchfork to aerate the lawn regularly. This helps natural drainage and also encourages movement of insects beneath the ground.

- If you don’t have much time for gardening, stick to plants in containers, such as tubs, boxes and baskets. They are easier to feed and tend if you have a busy lifestyle.

- Never re-pot in a pot that is too big. If the roots don’t grow quickly enough, the new compost sours and becomes unusable for the plant.

- If you’re buying ready-potted plants of flowers, make sure that they have already begun to flower; otherwise there is a risk that they may never flower at all.

- Add compost to your garden soil two to four weeks before you plant. This way, the compost will be integrated within your garden soil.lovemetenderhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06475686934256828265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2839964788355742415.post-77976779850090567622008-12-30T09:55:00.000-08:002008-12-30T10:02:04.345-08:00Happy New Year 2009
Well, for my last post in 2008 here's a short wise words from Orison Swett Marden :

"We live ourselves by our thought, we climb upon our vision of ourselves. Airborne contaminants that can oftentimes be found in a person’s home can cause serious health consequences for people left breathing these pollutants over an extended (or even fairly short) period of time.

The basic step that you need to take in order to ensure that in-home air contaminants are kept to a minimum is to make sure you have sound and solid ventilation. Ventilate your house properly. If air is not recycled, germs circulate and you may find yourself ill.

In this day and age, many people rarely crack open a window in their homes. (In many
high-rise residential properties it actually is impossible to open a window.) In the summer,

people have their air conditioners running and in the winter, people keep their houses sealed tight to keep the cold out. With that said, you actually are well served to air out your home whenever possible.

In addition to simply opening up windows as much as possible, you should seriously consider installing a system in your home that allows for the circulation of fresh air into and through the house. You need to keep in mind that while some air-conditioning and even some heating systems do include this circulatory capacity, many such systems simply do not.

By ensuring that fresh, clean air regularly is circulated through your home, by ensuring that you have a solid ventilation system, you will make great strides towards reducing germs, bacteria and other harmful pollutants from the air in your home. In the end, you and your family will enjoy better health and a better overall wellbeing.lovemetenderhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06475686934256828265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2839964788355742415.post-35756056849386915202008-12-07T05:50:00.000-08:002008-12-07T06:10:15.419-08:00More problem solver tips
- Destroy Desire For Nicotine.

1 Take before breakfast /2 tsp. each of rochelle salts and cream of tartar.

- Destroy Desire For Alcohol.

Mix goldthread with golden seal tea. It appears to reduce the risk of Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, heart disease, diabetes mellitus type 2, cirrhosis of the liver and gout. Some health effects of coffee are due to its caffeine content, as the benefits are only observed in those who drink caffeinated coffee, while others appear to be due to other components. For example, the antioxidants in coffee prevent free radicals from causing cell damage.

Coffee's negative health effects are mostly due to its caffeine content. Caffeine can wreak havoc on the nervous system, but that does not make it synonymous with coffee. Different kinds of coffee (all prepared differently) will yield varied levels of caffeine content. Serving size also comes into play. To those sensitive to caffeine, the obvious alternative can be found in decaffeinated coffee. But such an alternative could downplay the positive affects of the drink. Coffee is rich in the B vitamin niacin; and in recent studies has been shown to have antioxidant-like effects on the body by eliminating free radicals. As a caution, these benefits only arise with a balanced drinking habit. Too much cream and sugar can prove to be detrimental, while too much coffee poses many long-term hazards. While coffee may provide the B vitamin niacin, it in turn restricts the body from other vitamins. And depending on the brew, coffee contains acids that have been linked to stomach ulcers. Symptoms like these may sound off-putting, but they exist only in the long run for an abusive drinker. A daily cup poses no threat to the average person.

Coffee may be presented in a variety of ways. Drip brewed, percolated, or French-pressed/cafetière coffee may be served with no additives or sugar (colloquially known as black) , or with either milk, cream, or both. When served cold, it is called iced coffee.

Here's my favourite Arabian Coffee recipe:

Ingredients:

1/2 litre (about 1 pint) water

3 tablespoons coffee

3 tablespoons (or more) sugar

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon Cardamom

1 teaspoon vanilla or vanilla sugar

How To:

Mix all ingredients in a saucepan and heat until foam gathers on top. Do not pass through

a filter. Stir it up before you serve it.
lovemetenderhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06475686934256828265noreply@blogger.com0
